Participant 1 (She’s been to COP21 and attended one of Naomi’s lecture there)
“I have been to Albarta, Canada, where there are national parks, Jasper and Bunf, to which people from all over the world come. It was quite a shock to see the huge mining area for tar sand. As Cree’s proverb says, “After you’ve taken everything, you will know that you cannot eat gold.” For the money’s sake, the policy today is destroying the Earth, depriving from people, and in the end destroying ourselves. This film reminded me of the trend from global to local, from big scale to small scale.

Participant 2 (He has been to COP21, too. He is interested in more public viewing of this film. He might get in touch with you. Toshimaru Ogura)
“Economic growth and the system which is dependent on fossil fuel, and colonization on global scale started 400 years ago; these three go together in negative spiral. We need to know that our model of development of developed countries cannot be the model for the developing countries. In 1970’s, in order to combat the energy crisis, Japan developed nuclear technology. We have to eliminate the possibility of nuclear power, as alternative to global warming by fossil fuel burning.

Participant 3
The indigenous people who’ve been deprived of the land reminded me of Okinawa, my homeland. The purpose is not the resource, but the US bases, but the structure is the same, locals are not heard and ignored. And the mainland people don’t know these things. It is the same in the film.

Participant 4:
There are people fighting against the climate capitalism all over the world. And these people know that their problem is not only theirs, but also it is the problem for the entire world. It was very encouraging to know that they know. COP21 resulted in the end to admit global warming beyond 2 degrees, which is a damn policy. It only opened up opportunity for climate business. The core problem is the capitalism. I liked this message.

Participant 5
Convenient, cheap, confortable; things we choose are based on these principles. Before the choice, I always thought again, is it safe for the others? Is it not harmful to health and environment?
In the end, this second thought will assure my safe and healthy life, I believe. Environmentalism is not for someone who has the capacity to rethink, somebody intelligent, somebody rich enough. It is for our survival.

Participant 6
I became sensitive to oil origin products. But even I had not seen this behind “oil”. Very arrogant. Now I am trying to change. And this changes everything gave me power to change.
