Quick reference for media professionals
• Take the opportunity to educate the public about suicide
自殺について公衆を教育する機会を活かす。
• Avoid language which sensationalizes or normalizes suicide, or presents it as a solution to problems
自殺をセンセーショナルに取り上げたり、当たり前のことだというような表現、あるいは自殺が問題解決の方法だというように見せるような表現を避ける。
• Avoid prominent placement and undue repetition of stories about suicide
自殺について、美化したり、何度もくりかえしストーリーを出したりしない。
• Avoid explicit description of the method used in a completed or attempted suicide
自殺あるいは自殺未遂で使われた方法をこと細かに描写することを避ける。
• Avoid providing detailed information about the site of a completed or attempted suicide
自殺あるいは自殺未遂が行なわれた場所についての詳細な情報を提供しない。
• Word headlines carefully
見出しの付け方は慎重に。
• Exercise caution in using photographs or video footage
写真やビデオの仕様は気をつけて行なうこと。
• Take particular care in reporting celebrity suicides

• Show due consideration for people bereaved by suicide
